I will be showing a reel of the Party Tech I have developed with David Jimison (including everything from Dirt Party 1 and 2 and Anywhere But Here, to our older stuff, such as Secret Satan and the Mustache Party), and both BoozBot and James Chimpton will be on display.
It’s not an “exhibition” for the Eyebeam fellows, but this is the next best thing. Don’t expect to see much polished work – this is all stuff that is still in progress. But it’s a lot of it. It’s a great opportunity to get a feel for what goes on at Eyebeam.
Stephanie and I are also part of the Windows Brooklyn exhibition that started on Saturday. We have out Invisible Threads jeans in the storefront of a place called Olive’s at 434 Court St. in Red Hook. This Saturday, the organizers are doing an art walk where you can go see all of the storefronts, and from the look of the website, there are some pretty cool ones. If yo do go, we are #19.
from the website:
Windows Brooklyn is an art exhibition installed in numerous storefronts along Court Street and Smith Street in the Carroll Gardens and Cobble Hill neighborhoods of Brooklyn from June 14-22.
The exhibition takes art out of the traditional museum or gallery setting and incorporate it into a vibrant public space. The show will turn pedestrians into viewers, slowing down impatient walkers and transforming the frequently traveled routes of harried commuters. Turning independent business owners into collaborators who are willing to exchange commerce for culture, the exhibition is a commentary on the nature of the window both as a physical object and as an idea, one that goes far beyond just pieces of glass. We seek to reflect the incredible history of Brooklyn while simultaneously adding to it. It will forge new connections between artists and their communities, change the ways in which we direct our gazes, and alter our habits for interacting with the structures that surround us.
Opening Reception: June 14, Sam’s Restaurant 238 Court St, Brooklyn, 3-5pm, cash bar
Art Walk: June 21, 3-5pm, Talk to the artists at their installation locations
Closing Reception: June 21, 6pm, Carroll Park, closing performance by Maya Pindyck and Fletcher Boote
Open Studios vs. Windows Brooklyn Art Walk
This Saturday I have work in two events in New York that will be massive amounts of fun. Unfortunately, you must choose one or the other.
Eyebeam Open Studios
Visit Eyebeam for the biannual Open Studios, showcasing ongoing projects by current fellows, residents, and student residents.
